The California Native

I grew up in a small town of Santa Maria, California with my sister, my mom, and my dad. I graduated from Santa Maria High School in June of 2015 and packed up everything and moved to Colorado in August of 2015. I absolutely love it in Cali – it’s where my family is, my dogs, my old friends; but in the past two years I have learned to call Colorado my home.

I attend Colorado State University, and I am currently pursuing a Liberal Arts degree in Creative Writing, while simultaneously pursuing a Spanish minor. Point is: I love language. English. Spanish. Any language – love it. These two just happen to be my favorites.

My passions, of course, extend into writing. I have been writing since the 7th grade and absolutely love it. Poetry. Fiction. Non-fiction (more recently). And now, writing that pertains to teaching. I have always wanted to write, but I have had a hard time figuring out what to write and how to write it. My education at CSU has definitely taught me much, and will continue to, but my relationship with the Lord has been my driving force.

I have been radically following the Lord for almost a year and a half. By “radically” I mean that my life is His. I make decisions with Him, and I dedicate my life to Him. It’s been different because it is completely against the world, but it is, and is only, the most fulfilling relationship that I have ever had. As I follow the Lord, the glory for my writing, or the praise, goes to Him. I want to document what he is doing in my life and in others’ lives. The unspoken. The unheard. The invisible. Those silent stories that, if not noticed, disappear into history without a soul to know about it.

He is where my FIRE comes from.

Enjoy my blog – a mix of language and learning and a passion that is on FIRE.
